Hey there!
Have you ever learned to ride a bicycle by watching your friend ride one? If you have, let us in on the secret because you might be the only human who learned this skill via osmosis.
Flipped classrooms are one of the powerful ways to make learning stick in this age of information overload. You can do this even for your corporate training. There’s never a fuel as powerful as the fear when one has to present, even defend, a topic in front of the teacher and peers!
Thinking this is too high a hoop to jump through when you are doing more self-paced learning?
There’s good news on that front too for learning designers. You can flip your learning design even if it’s self-paced. All you need to do is design the course with just 30% of theory in the self-paced format and then augment the learning with hands-on projects. The icing on the cake? Bake in a presentation in front of a jury of other learners and the trainer where each learner presents their project work.
Applying learning to solve a problem increases the learner’s confidence. If they are then called upon to defend their solution, you complete the cycle of learning for them.
So, there you have it. Point proven.
My confidence lies at the tips of my fingers. I need to work on them to activate my learning and boost my confidence.
Breaking the myth of original thought
Do only geniuses can come up with path breaking ideas or discoveries?
That’s a myth most of us live with, a myth that takes away the burden of doing anything innovative from us ordinary folks.
But.. what if it’s a mindset or rather a mind block that prevents you from thinking out of the box? Check out this story about a group of young people struggling to break away from barriers, and a younger person who dreams big because she’s (not yet?) in ‘jail’. We think this inspiring piece will help you overcome your own mind blocks.
