From Degrees to Readiness: Embracing Continuous Learning in the Age of AI
[September 2025 Vol 61]
Hello there!
How are you doing today? Do you remember your first job interview or the very first day at work? Did you believe your degree had prepared you for everything? Or did you, like me, discover that the real journey of learning begins only when you step into the workplace?
For me, that moment came six years ago. Back in 2019, I walked into Clearly Blue as an intern, thinking that my English skills would be enough to get me started as a content writer. But the workplace soon showed me how much more there was to learn. It revealed my gaps, broadened my perspective, and encouraged me to grow in ways I hadn’t imagined. That shift — from thinking I was ready to realising I must keep growing — has defined my journey ever since.
And I believe it’s the same story for many students and young professionals today. Degrees open doors, yes — but they don’t guarantee readiness. In a world that keeps evolving, it’s the willingness to adapt, to keep learning, that truly makes us thrive. As we celebrate Teacher’s Day, let’s remember that learning doesn’t end with a degree — it continues through every experience, every mentor, and every challenge we face.
The Future of Learning: AI as a Daily Partner
"AI in eLearning: From Buzzword to Daily Work Partner" highlights how AI is moving beyond hype to become a practical ally in education. From creating personalized learning paths to offering instant feedback and data-driven insights, AI is transforming how we learn and teach. Yet, as the article reminds us, true impact comes when AI’s efficiency is combined with uniquely human qualities like empathy and creativity.
If you’re curious about what role AI could play in your own learning journey, this article is a must-read.
Unsung Hero: Mahatma Ayyankali — A Revolutionary Teacher for Change
While AI shapes the future of learning, history reminds us of reformers who reshaped access to learning itself. On his 162nd birth anniversary earlier this year, Kerala remembered Mahatma Ayyankali (1863–1941) — a visionary who dared to unlearn oppressive norms and teach empowerment through action.
Born into the Pulayar community, he challenged caste barriers with bold acts — riding an ox-cart along restricted roads and launching an agitation for Dalit children to gain access to schools. Through his efforts with the Sadhu Jana Paripalana Sangham, he transformed Travancore’s social landscape. Ayyankali’s leadership in education, protest, and social equality continues to remind us that teaching is not just about curriculum — it’s about courage, inclusivity, and change.
“There is no end to education. It is not that you read a book, pass an examination, and finish with education. The whole of life, from the moment you are born to the moment you die, is a process of learning.” — Jiddu Krishnamurti
