Hello there!
As we roll into spring and flowers blossom all around us, new growth seems to be the mantra everywhere. Conducive workplaces are essential for organisational growth.
Research has shown that work place rituals have a large role to play in strengthening bonds among co-workers. They provide a sense of purpose and psychological safety, where employees move beyond doing work that is simply transactional and actually find meaning in their efforts.
The end result is a win-win. Higher employee morale, leading to higher productivity!
In these days as companies struggle to reduce churn and address talent shortages, what are the workplace rituals that energise your employees and give them a sense of belonging and security?
Food: The Great Unifier
Speaking of rituals, we at Clearly Blue vouch for the benefits of bonding over epicurean treats!
Yes, you read that right!
We have always been intentional about bonding over food – whether at parties, potlucks or picnics! Company anniversaries, festivals, end-of-the-year celebrations and project milestones-all mostly revolve around celebrating with good food. Pizza breaks and ice-cream afternoons are de rigueur at Clearly Blue. And we are not the only ones, many companies have rituals that revolve around food. In fact, IDEO’s weekly Tea Time ritual has been found to build a sense of trust among co-workers and foster deep collaboration.
We opined that this topic merited a blog of its own. Read on for Padmaja Narsipur’s delightful (or should we say “delectable”) take on the matter as she expounds on how food could be the great unifier and enabler.
Bon appetit!
